True metallic gold is difficult to replicate in print because it cannot be created from a solid colour. The attributes usually associated with metal gold is a metallic shine as the light reflects from its surface. Traditional print tends to look more olive brown to dark yellow or a very bright yellow. To overcome this the use of hot foil press techniques have become very popular in the production of wedding invitations. Another technique is raised print thermography. In fact, if your want your invitation printing in gold you will often find you only have a choice of raised print. This is because the thermography process allows a metallic pigment to be added to the wet ink in powder form after it has been printed. When the ink and pigment have been heat cured it produces a beautiful raised gold effect to the type. Many of our designs have raised ink as standard or can choose it for a small additional charge during the order process. Gold and cream is a popular wedding colour mix whereas as silver tends to work better with white.
